Following on from my dissertation project, this unit I hope to produce a short animation about living with a mental illness. Although I was studying the animated documentary genre, I feel much more drawn to a more conventional short film that will allow me to explore character design, sound design, story writing and symbolism.
My sketches at this point are focused on finding a coherent style and visual language, as well as settling on which medium to use. I currently feel most comfortable with ink, as I like the textures that can be achieved and how quickly marks can be made. At the moment, I am not sure if it will be traditionally or digitally animated, or a mix of the two.
